Problem 50

Citrated blood samples were collected from a patient with a prolonged bleeding time and from an ABO compatible normal control. The blood counts‚ prothrombin times‚ and activated partial thromboplastin times were normal for both patient and control. One in ten dilutions of the patient`s blood (1)‚ the normal control (2)‚ and a mixture of equal parts of patient and control samples were prepared in buffered saline‚ and clotted with thrombin. The three tubes were then incubated at 37 degrees C. for 1hour. The picture shows the appearance of each at the end of incubation. What is your interpretation?
